Daily Duties at Indian Health Services:

My role as a locums provider was to treat all patients, from birth to the very aged. The walk in clinic, which is their medical home, was where I was stationed during my 5 week stay. I treated a very wide variety of urgent medical conditions, provided follow up and referrals as necessary. My role was as an autonomous provider, but I was fortunate to have other providers available for questions.

As you search for a new job opportunity, it is usually possible to find out if the company is involved in the community and/or if it is addressing problems and issues in society. Pay special attention to non-profit organizations and those specifically involved in social action. Moreover, speaking with current and former employees should enlighten you to perceptions of the fairness of the company's leaders and the treatment of employees.
