Daily Duties at New York State Department Of Environmental Conservation:

Fully accountable for all legal direction and matters for an eight county region comprised of 250 employees (with seasonal employee count rising to nearly 600). Spearheaded resolutions and proceedings for environmental issues spanning Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA, CERCLA, Endangered Species Act and related state environmental laws. Conducted NEPA and SEQRA environmental reviews for land use planning projects involving mine sites, housing subdivisions, shoreline development and activities impacting freshwater wetlands. Orchestrated environmental permit review with industry, local government, small businesses, and individuals. Negotiated contracts to resolve high-complexity cases, commenced formal enforcement proceedings and permit hearings, managed outside counsel in affirmative and defensive litigation, coordinated and reviewed responses to FOIL requests.
