Reviewed initial assessment of case for information and objectives Verified employee's job title and description; obtained job analysis Performed three-point contact with employee, employer, and medical provider Evaluated all information related to current treatment plan to identify barriers, determine realistic goals, and seek possible alternatives Maintained daily record of all contacts Educated the employee on the disability or injury and treatment plan established by the case manager, physicians, and therapists in an effort to facilitate return to work Performed utilization review prospectively, concurrently, and retrospectively with complete and timely reports to clients and providers. Evidence-based criteria used included the Medical Disability Advisor, Interqual Criteria, and Official Disability Guidelines. Screened medical information and medical records for medical necessity and appropriateness Referred to physician review those cases not meeting criteria of scientific based criteria/nationally accepted medical literature Performed benefit and cost analyses
