Daily Duties at Calhoun County Emergency Management Agency:

This position directly supported a national and congressionally mandated program which requires a 24-hour warning point capable of determining and executing after-hours initial response decisions for all-hazards events. Responsibilities included the execution of after-hours initial countywide Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP) protective action decisions regarding evacuation, sheltering, and individual special needs. Initiated CSEPP alert and notification requirements (Tone Alert Radios, sirens, Emergency Alert System) and activated Evacuation Control Points (ECP) based on determined Protective Action Decisions (PAD).This position required extensive knowledge and use of several computer software programs, such as Microsoft Office; the Emergency Management Information System (EMIS) with its component programs (e.g., Status Boards, Grabbit, Free Form Log, AutoD2PC, and EMIS Email); Groupwise; Wonderware; D2-Puff v. 4.4 - 5.2 and WebPuff (hazard modeling programs); and EM 2000, a statewide emergency resources and logistics intranet system. This position required the use of communications hardware such as 800 mHZ radio, CSEPP and National Warning System (NAWAS) hotlines, and SounthernLINC. While on duty, aided in coordinating the Incident Command System (ICS) for two Presidential Disaster Declarations (Hurricane Ivan, 2004 and Hurricane Katrina, 2005); a Major Disaster Declaration (Hurricane Dennis, 2005); Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) accidents; minor CSEPP-related events; and several severe weather events. Assigned by the director of the agency to create and develop numerous high-level presentations and assignments.
