Daily Duties at Science Applications International Corporation (Saic):

This is a contractor position for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The training analyst position required analyzing and evaluating proposed training programs submitted by state and local agencies in meeting established program goals for emergency response Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) training; analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of state and local training programs in meeting established program standards and objectives set forth by the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS); identify and communicate with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to facilitate the evaluation of training programs with specialized content; analyze and provide written validation for comprehensive emergency responder WMD training programs to include all levels of awareness, performance, planning, and management training; prepare and deliver training program assessment reports; work in conjunction with state and local jurisdictions submitting training programs for review; and identify standards required for the use in management of state and local emergency responder training programs. Position also called for the development of Level 2 (Kirkpatrick) evaluation instruments for more than 38 courses developed and delivered by SAIC. Evaluation instruments, in the form of multiple-choice tests, were created, edited, revised, and implemented based on suggestions by Subject Matter Experts (SME) for fields ranging from Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) to radiological preparedness. The training writer position requires coordinating requirements necessary to support upload of curriculum documentation for web-based training; continuous research and analysis in public and private sectors relating to the development and utilization of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) by domestic and international terrorists; utilizes research that is used to analyze, develop, design, write, and edit comprehensive training manuals for first responder training; conducts revisions of existing course material in response to dynamic changes in the first response field; and creates testing instruments for academic material. Necessary skills include the use of Adobe and Microsoft Office programs. This position requires working relationships with representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), The Joint Commission (TJC), and other top government agencies. This position also requires that the candidate be able to pass an extensive background investigation by the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in order to attain a security clearance.
