Daily Duties at Zeneca Pharmaceuticals:
Project/study leader for several research programs areas (obesity, anxiety/depression, analgesia and stroke)with responsibility for designing, implementing and managing the scientific process. Championed and developed the first target discovery and validation program on CNS mechanisms in obesity / cachexia; Project Leader. I developed an integrative and multidisciplinary strategy organized through supracellular (in vivo behavioral analysis), cellular (electrophysiological/pharmacological-patch clamp) and molecular (DNA, RNA and protein analyses) approaches. This was a first for the CNS division. Initiated and led other CNS discovery and validation programs and also managed my external CNS business collaborations. Participated in the CNS advisory team, which included involvement with potential licensing arrangements Direct management of six staff and three post-doctoral fellows; indirect management of other research gropus involved with my projects (e.g.assay screening groups).
