Daily Duties at National Defense Univ.:

· Budget Technician for a senior JPME College performance of work requiring a broad, in-depth practical knowledge of accounting or other financial management technical methods, techniques, precedent cases and procedures to resolve especially difficult or sensitive problems · Receive, screen and recommend approval, disapproval or modification of budget execution documents when possible based upon availability of funds and regulatory compliance · Maintenance of automated internal accounting system of funding commitments and obligations for travel, transportations, supplies, services and equipment · Examine, review, verify and consolidate a variety of narrative and statistical information to formulate and present budget requests · Execute Purchase Requests and contracts for supplies and services utilizing Government IMPAC card or currently established contracting procedures. · Handles problems and deviations in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training, or accepted practices · Reconciliation of accounts with University budget office to determine actual amounts dispersed against agency funds · Compare figures in current estimates of funding needs with prior year expenditures and recommend changes · Prepare summaries of narrative, quantitative and statistical data in budget forms, schedules and reports Resolve difficult reconciliations requiring analysis of adjustments and corrective entries in the account · Compile budget estimates and review justifications submitted by subordinate organizations · Crosscheck accuracy of budget and program data in related forms, schedules and reports · Change or recommend adjustment of inconsistent totals, subtotals and individual entries · Independently process the most difficult procedural and technical tasks and actions · Research guides extracting legal, regulatory, program and budgetary information · Serves as certifying funds officer for agency · Processes TDY orders and vouchers
