Daily Duties at U.S. Army:

I served in the Army’s elite Special Operations Aviation Unit as a Maintenance Test Pilot and Maintenance Manager. I performed test flights worldwide on 30 highly modified tactical helicopters in support of a 15,000 hour flying program. I helped maintain an aircraft availability rate of 14% above the Department of the Army standards. I successfully supervised support personnel during real world high-risk night operations, where time and successful completion were critical. Qualified and experience in overwater, shipboard operations, mountain flying and external loads. During my tenure with the 160th I became the primary military test pilot for accepting highly modified MH6/AH6 special operations aircraft from the Blue Grass Army Depot. This process included delivering bare bones factory aircraft to the depot, monitoring completion progress, acceptance inspections and acceptance test flights. While stationed at Fort Drum New York, I was the primary test pilot in charge of accepting new UH-60L aircraft from Sikorsky. I was responsible for acceptance inspections and test flights of 10th Mountain Division aircraft from U.S. Army repair and overhaul depots. I trained and evaluated all of the 10th Mountain Division UH60 Blackhawk Maintenance Test Pilots. I have been a Maintenance Technician and Technical Inspector on U21/C12 (King Air 90 & 200), UH60 Blackhawk and AH/MH6 (Hughes 500) aircraft. I performed as a maintenance technician for Gates Learjet on C21A (Lear 35) aircraft and as a maintenance technician for Beech Aerospace on C-12 aircraft (King Air 200) aircraft.

What they like about U.S. Army:

The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
