Daily Duties at South Place Nursing Home:
The Skilled Hall is one of 4 halls in the Long Term Care Facility that I worked in. I supervised 4-5 CNA's and a Medication Aide, there were approximately 20-30 residents in need of full care on my hall. My duties involved basic nursing skills within my LVN scope of practise. Developing a caring and informative relationship with the residents and the residents family members was second only to the safety and well being of the residents. A majority of the residents were Alzheimer and Dementia patients at various stages of the disease. This kind of a patient load can be stressful and very demanding at times in order to help calm the residents I would bring some of them to the nurses station and provide them with towels to fold, papers to organize at a seperate desk this was proven to be effective. Creativity is a vital asset in Geriatrics I was called on numerous times by other nurses and or aides to help calm an agitated resident. I left South Place Nursing Home to go back to school to get my RN license my work schedule conflicted with my school schedule.
