Daily Duties at Botsford General Hosptal:

I directed and supervised the activities of the Lipid Laboratory and a lipid clinic. The Lipid Laboratory was originally established and certified while I was employed by Sinai Hospital of Detroit. Due to the closure of Sinai, I transferred the Laboratory to Botsford Hospital. I continued to manage its operation and maintain its CLIA certification. We also continued partcipating in the CDC/ National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute's lipid proficiency testing program. This allowed us to maintain certification, and to compete and to successfully be awarded government and industry contracts/grants for standardized lipid testing. I served as the PI for these studies. I also marketed the Laboratory's services to private practice physician offices. Additionally, under the direction of the chief of cardiology, I implemented a lipid clinic , which was integrated into the cadiology fellowship program. I wrote hyperlipidemia treatment algorithms and supervised, along with the chief of cardiology, the fellows' clinical involvement in the lipid clinic. I prepared and was successful in acquiring several research grants to conduct clinical lipoprotein studies. I involved the cardiology fellows in my research activities. I also served as co-chairman of the Botsford IRB.
