Daily Duties at St. John Hospital & Medical Center:

I developed a Preventive Cardiology program at St. John Hospital and Mrdical Center under the direction of the chief of cardiology and the chairman of medicine. The program included a lipid clinic, medical weight loss program, diet/nutrition service and cardiac rehabilitation. I administratively managed all of these services and had direct patient contact in the lipid clinic, cardiac rehabilitation and medical weight loss programs. I wrote numerous hyperlipiemia treatment algorithms and developed the exercise programs for the cardiac rehab patients. I wrote several research grants and received funding to conduct studies on lipoprotein metabolism and atherogenesis. I involved many of the cardiology fellows in my research activity. I was also a member of the cardiology fellowship faulty and conducted numerous morning reports and provided a lecture series on hyperlipidemia management, diet and cardiac rehabilitation. In addition, I also supervised the activities of the Lipid Laboratory, a specialized laboratory certified by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute for standardized lipid testing. This Laboratory was first established at Sinai Hospital of Detroit as the state's only laboratory standardized for lipoprotein testing. It was ultimately transferred to St. John Hospital due to the closure of Sinai Hospital. The certification allowed the Lipid Laboratory to receive numerous industry and government sponsored contracts for standardized lipid testing. I served as the PI of many of these studies. I was also a member of the St. John Hospital's Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
