Daily Duties at Cranemasters:

Track Van Driver •Responsible for secure transfer of equipment and materials per Department of Transportation regulations. •Required to meet proper weigh station guide lines and be subject to inspection at any time. •Responsible for conducting a thorough safety and mechanical inspection for service trucks prior to use. •Inspect tools and equipment daily for defects, mechanical errors, to properly identify and eliminate safety concerns throughout shift. •Maintain a weekly inventory list of tools and materials for each specific job to ensure efficient production. Trackman •On call every other weekend for emergency work and repair. •Replace faulty ties and rail throughout service tracks and railways. •Restore railroad tracks to correct gauge at fifty six and a half inches to prevent train from derailing off tracks. •Inspect and service railroad switches for locomotives to have smooth transition from one track to the next. •Build new railroad track and switch panels for industry maintenance and railroad derailments. •Operation of track equipment 1.Backhoe: replacing ties throughout railroad track, aligning track to exact position, and rail replacement when needed. 2.Tamper: leveling and surfacing tracks to correct specifications. 3.Tie Inserter: removing old ties and replacing with new ones. 4.Tie Crane: placing job materials on site and removal of debris. 5.Spiker: insertion of spikes into railroad tie to proper gauge format. 6.Rotary Dump Truck: spread ballast throughout railroad tracks. •Welding 1.Thermite welding is the bonding process of two rails to secure rail and greatly reduce the need for further maintenance. 2.Weld switch points that were chipped or broken to proper specifications. 3.Weld rail joints to proper elevation for smooth transition.
