Daily Duties at Hachette F Ilipacchi Media:
Responsible for integrated advertising sales for the Cycle World brand including monthly magazine, annual specials, web-site, e-newsletter, mobile app, content licensing and special projects. Cycle World Magazine is the world's largest and most respected motorcycle media brand. The magazine had a paid circulation of over 300,000 per month and carried the most expensive rates, (40-50% higher than nearest competitor). Hire, develop and manage a highly effective team of four inside sales people, and support a group of independent and corporate sales staff nationwide with consultative sale training. Develop and present market updates and sales presentations and provide to sales staff to attract new investment of advertising dollars into the market. A “player-coach” sales management style with frequent travel to meet with national advertising clients and agencies to present advertising proposals, deliver market update, address questions and support sales staff. Daily interaction with sales staff to complete integrated RFP process from advertising agencies. Developed various financial reports, analyzing business by issue, time frame, competitive analysis and share of market. Provided to management with detailed business explanation. Developed territorial assignments, annual budgets and quotas for each media platform. Financial responsibility included construction of rate card for each medium, negotiation of annual contracts and overall P&L management.. Weekly meetings with marketing and research department to develop appropriate survey questions based on client “needs” gathered from sales feed back. Conducted 7-10 “reader panels per year on various endemic and non-endemic categories, and produced trend analysis over specific periods of time. . Met frequently with Cycle World’s Chief Brand Officer to analyze and develop new revenue streams such as the use of electronic database to deliver content licensing of editorial product reviews. Constant review of airline, hotel and travel offerings in an effort to find cost savings, and keep travel and entertainment expenses on track with budget.
