Daily Duties at Hull Eye Center:

Daily duties include screening, treating, and performing diagnostic testing on patients. Preparing minor surgical trays and assisting the physician in performing in-chair procedures. Reviewing records for accuracy and approving refills of medications. Diagnostic testing of patients to further the accuracy of diagnosis. Maintaining all pieces of equipment includes archiving the data daily as well as the other internal storage devices. Daily calibration of the equipment. Entering and storing critical health information for the surgical patients to ensure that all information is presented to the physician prior to surgery. Performing calculations and ordering specialty lenses for patients. Minor duties include booking appointments for in clinic care and booking appointments with retinal specialists for those patients that are in need of a higher level of care. As the assistant lead technician I ensure patient flow and organization is at the peak performance levels. In the absence of the supervisor I manage 4 personnel and monitor patient flow to expedite care in an appropriate manner. As the only full time technician on staff I am a mentor to new technicians. I assist these technicians on the daily operations of the clinic. Provide advice on the appropriate courses of action to best care for the patient. I assist in community services such as the annual senior exposition. Often talking to hundreds of seniors within the community to provide advice, literature. Since becoming a technician at the Hull Eye Center I have helped establish and maintain a patient emergency schedule to better maintain the flow of patients. I have received the employee of the month two times and employee of the year. Most recently I was the lead staff member spear heading the obtaining of a contract with QTC management. This contract provides Veterans Affairs with a means to screen patients for disability claims processing.
