Daily Duties at Houston Grand Opera:

Responsible for all aspects of public relations and media relations for a world renowned opera company. Duties included: • Pitch stories to local, regional, national and international publications. Fostered relationships between the organization, media writers and editors. • Work with artist agents and publicists to ensure the most coverage available for their clients. Facilitated this action on a world-wide level. • Creation and supervision of a communication plan and $1.5M budget for each season. • Creation, cultivation and supervision of a social media 2.0 plan including all aspects of online community sites. (Facebook and Twitter) • Coordination of international, national and local entertainment reviewers including accommodations and travel. Ensure all information is readily available including press releases, press photos and multimedia materials. • Creation of all organizational communications, both internal and external. This aspect includes crisis management and marketing correspondence. • Create press releases, calendar releases and informational media alerts for all events, personnel changes and announcements. • Supervised a staff of four in communications capacity – 2 graphic designers and a communications assistant. • Staff training for media interview purposes – television, print and radio. • Coordination of all interview requests from the media – scheduling, training, preparing and execution. My position at Houston Grand Opera was eliminated in a restructure of the nationally recognized non-profit arts organization.
