Daily Duties at Jacobs Tecnology:
JACOBS Technology, Inc. /TEAS, Teas Engineering Asst III (Met Services) 3rd Air Support Operations Group (3ASOG) Weather station forecaster and observer working independently on rotating shifts providing meteorological services including basic mission execution forecast briefings, flight weather watch, and surface weather observations. Flight weather brief over 400 mission execution forecasts monthly for numerous aircraft for projected timeframes and area of operations. Modifies and collaborate over 80 monthly local Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts; as needed issuing local flight area WARNING, WATCHES & ADVISORIES, tailoring to local conditions providing sounds meteorological reasoning. Mission watch the following equipment: FMQ19 automated weather system; monitor and operate NTFS (New Tactical Forecast System); monitor MARK IV B Satellites; monitoring and give accurate weather forecast to airborne pilots by PMSV (pilot to metro service radio) and OPUP (Open Principal User Processor) Doppler Meteorological Radar WSR-88D. Accurately take surface tactical weather observations using a Kestral 4000, FMQ19 and/or ASOS. Performing local checklist, operating procedures, regulations, support plans. Solve a variety of meteorological problems, by answering requests using most current Air Force Instructions and Manuals, a variety of regional products from military websites, field meteorologists & DOD customers. Participate in technical briefings & conferences providing meteorological assistance, additional tools, answer questions and resolve most technical problems during the forecasting analysis and verification production process. Recommends techniques, methods and procedures to enlarge and improve the unit’s forecasting capabilities. Researches climatologically data to provide and prepare briefings; maintain meteorological studies and reviews. Disseminate weather observations and forecasts using numerous computer generated products. Supervisor: Mr. James Sampson (Jacobs Technology, Inc.)
