Daily Duties at P&W Rocketdyne:

Systems architect and focal in the following areas: Life/Allocation Management, Configuraton Management, Hardware Analysis and Mass Properties. Everyday duties consist of performing tasks associated with implementation of the configuration management principles, which include uniquely identifying a data item, tracking and controlling changes to the item, providing status of changes and history of the item, and delivering a final product to the customer. Coordinating activities to capture and track changes to a product. Providing CM support to Software Engineers, Hardware Engineers, Test Engineers, System Engineers, and Program Management. Reviewing and preparing documents and media for internal release or external delivery to customers. Delivering documents and media to end customers. Interfacing with other engineering disciplines to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems. Developing, improving and training CM processes. Established a unique identification system for data, establishing and maintaining data repository structure for the storage and retrieval of data, and managing changes to data items. Provided hardware configuration management support for multiple development and production programs. Perform all aspects of Configuration Management activities, including the development of configuration management planning documentation; coordination of Configuration/Change Control Boards (CCB); manage engineering documentation changes, coordinating review and approval workflows. Knowledge of Configuration Management Processes, including change control, status accounting, identification reviews and audits. Familiar with Configuration Management industry standards. Experience in conducting/facilitating CCB's .Experience in reviewing engineering design documents and changes. Facilitating and tracking material requirements integration into current design as approved at ECB and CCB which I ran as the Configuration Management focal. Acted as the interface between the NASA CM customer and the program office. Responsible for the interpretation and implementation of all CM requirements. Ensured program compliance to any applicable contract provisions, as well as site procedures and processes. Responsible for the cradle to grave configuration of the SSME Engines. Acting as the CM organization and program spokesperson, advises management and the NASA customer on the appropriate courses of action to take concerning all CM issues. Participated in NASA CM audits. Used web based applications to support customers locally as well as in other sites. Involved in reviewing contracts and structuring and managing data requirements. Responsible for the cradle to grave configuration of the SSME Engines. Developed CM plans and Internal procedures (SOPs). Did internal audits in preparation for ISO audit. Participated in NASA CM audits. Used an electronic system to track changes. Coordinated change boards. The customer pre-ship package reviewed suitability, compatibility and any structural or life issues related to the hardware. MR issues and hardware deviations were addressed relative to the projected series and the test plan for the engine. Led and conducted internal and external Hardware Readiness Reviews. Worked and interfaced well with other disciplines, including customer. Component teams were coordinated so that all issues were given sufficient visibility and all risks were minimized with concurrence from Rocketdyne and the customer (NASA).tracked life issues resulting hardware fabrication or limits imposed by structural limitations due to the design. Limits falling below agreed contract end item requirements were given high visibility befroe and after each test so that risk would never be considered higher then medium for any particular test. Reviews and approves product veification and validations plans and reports. Managed and maintained statistical life limits database for the Space Shuttle Main Engine assets. Proactively alerted customers to any risk incurred due to exceeding factors of safety or analytical limits. Developed and maintained intranet metrics.
