Daily Duties at Us Army Jag Corps:

Legal Assistance Attorney Fort Sill, Oklahoma 1990 – 1992 Fort Lewis Washington 1988 – 1989  Counseled clients on civil actions, adoptions, etc.  Drafted correspondence, pleadings, wills.  Advised on family law, consumer law, bankruptcy law, landlord/tenant law, military administrative law, and other related matters.  Supported reservists called to active duty in support of OPERATION DESERT SHIELD/DESERT STORM regarding reemployment rights and Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Civil Relief Act. Trial Defense Counsel Fort Sill, Oklahoma 1989 – 1990  Defended soldiers at general, special and bad-conduct courts-martial, administrative elimination boards and academic boards.  Counseled soldiers regarding pretrial confinement, summary courts-martial, administrative investigations and lineup situations.  Acted as Senior Defense Counsel in absence of Senior Defense Counsel. Trial Counsel Fort Lewis, Washington 1987 – 1988  Prosecuted soldiers at general and special courts-martial and administrative elimination boards  Advised approximately 34 company commanders on the Uniform Code of Military Justice  Provided training to military police concerning search and seizure, probable cause stops/searches and other related matters. Admin.Law/Magistrate Court Prosecutor Ft. Lewis, Washington 1986 –1987  Appointed as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Washington.  Prosecuted all civilian misdemeanor crimes and all traffic offenses on post.  Wrote pleadings, briefs, jury instructions.  Reviewed Army administrative actions.  Advised commanders on administrative actions such as nonjudicial punishments, chapter discharges.
