Daily Duties at Us Army Jag Corps:
Legal Assistance Attorney Fort Sill, Oklahoma 1990 – 1992 Fort Lewis Washington 1988 – 1989 Counseled clients on civil actions, adoptions, etc. Drafted correspondence, pleadings, wills. Advised on family law, consumer law, bankruptcy law, landlord/tenant law, military administrative law, and other related matters. Supported reservists called to active duty in support of OPERATION DESERT SHIELD/DESERT STORM regarding reemployment rights and Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Civil Relief Act. Trial Defense Counsel Fort Sill, Oklahoma 1989 – 1990 Defended soldiers at general, special and bad-conduct courts-martial, administrative elimination boards and academic boards. Counseled soldiers regarding pretrial confinement, summary courts-martial, administrative investigations and lineup situations. Acted as Senior Defense Counsel in absence of Senior Defense Counsel. Trial Counsel Fort Lewis, Washington 1987 – 1988 Prosecuted soldiers at general and special courts-martial and administrative elimination boards Advised approximately 34 company commanders on the Uniform Code of Military Justice Provided training to military police concerning search and seizure, probable cause stops/searches and other related matters. Admin.Law/Magistrate Court Prosecutor Ft. Lewis, Washington 1986 –1987 Appointed as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Washington. Prosecuted all civilian misdemeanor crimes and all traffic offenses on post. Wrote pleadings, briefs, jury instructions. Reviewed Army administrative actions. Advised commanders on administrative actions such as nonjudicial punishments, chapter discharges.
