Daily Duties at Jones & Carter, Inc.:
Project Engineer in Transportation/ Land Development, general responsibilities included project management, design, plan preparation and bidding. Specific duties for improvements to several roadway projects included reconstruction planning, additional left turn lanes, pavement design, upgrades to storm sewer lines and evaluations of existing storm system capacities. Further responsibilities included traffic control planning, preparing permit documents, Right-of-Way acquisitions, and coordinating existing utility relocations in conflict with improvements within existing Right- of-Way’s. Specific duties for improvements to future rail projects included relocating utilities in conflict with future train guide rails and proposed road widening and preparing plan and profiles of existing utilities along several proposed corridors. Specific responsibilities for improvements to commercial sites included plan preparation, storm sewer sizing, obtaining permits for utility service, designing finished pavement elevations, developing traffic control plans, developing Storm Water Pollution Prevention plans and obtaining governing agency approvals.
