Daily Duties at St John's Hospital:

Assume responsibility for setting up and passing instruments, holding retractors, and assist the surgeon, and assist with circulating duties as necessary. Observe and maintain aseptic technique at all times. Assist in preparing the operating room for procedure, obtaining needed equipment and supplies. Complete required sponge, needle and instrument counts following policy/procedure. Anticipate the needs of equipment and instruments by the surgeon during an operation utilizing physician preference cards. Responsible for General, Gynecological, Cardiovascular and Urology procedures. Take mandatory call as assigned. Assist with orientation of new personnel, provide in service programs as directed, and attend continuing education on a regular basis.
