Daily Duties at Kennametal:

* Directed USA, Europe, India IT application development/systems analyst staff. Assigned, delegated, prioritized assignments/responsibilities. Motivated team members with “stretch” assignments to enable them to enhance their leadership capabilities and increase their contributions to the team, the IT organization, and upon customer satisfaction. * Frequently seized the initiative to exert leadership in planning, coordinating and executing complex systems maintenance, integration projects (e.g. standalone locations, acquisitions), interface requirements, and data integrity initiatives. Assigned roles for such efforts to personnel that often included IT and HR Management, customer teams, BASIS, DBA, IT Security, benefits providers, auditors, and consultants. Developed detailed project / communications plans to manage projects. * Seized the initiative to lead an IT task force to quickly develop/implement more effective production access/system controls that as a result, potential destructive risk was reduced 95% in the ERP, BW, and HR Production systems. * Collaborated with department managers and facilitated the transition of India Shared Services personnel to become a seamless and productive IT unit. This positioned IT into being able to truly provide 24/7 support. =========================== * SAP HR India Implementation. Led matrix team of Corporate & IT HR/FI members, Corporate and India HR Users, and external consultants to successfully accomplish migration of a standalone HR system for multiple locations to the Global SAP HR system (PA, OM, Time Management, Payroll), on time and within budget. * SAP HR European Integration. Flawless execution to integrate two SAP HR systems. Cost savings: $800K. * Oversaw efforts of a matrix team in implementing Dun & Bradstreet and legacy system master data integration into high profile Global Marketing BI application. Improved global sales of $1,500,000/yr. * Facilitated project meetings involving Product Marketing, Engineering, Sales, Distribution, Manufacturing, Advertising senior leadership and IT professionals for improving business processes. Resulted in increased profitability of $250K/yr. Senior Consultant Advisor - Data Architect: Business Intelligence Solutions 1989 - 1999 * Key communication hub and ‘go to’ person between C-level management, legal and functional experts, plant managers and hands-on IT professionals from various locations in North / South America, Europe, India and Asia-Pac countries. * Responsible for translating business requirements into data models / technical requirements. * Defined requirements, scope, ROI, and implementation strategy for a corporate-wide Knowledge Management initiative. * Working closely with multi-national leadership from every Business Unit; developed/implemented an aggressive multi-phased global archival strategy for the ERP system. Repeatable ongoing processes enabled cost avoidance of $700K/yr. * Developed application system solution to critical problems in Inventory Management Daily Demand Process that reduced inventory costs of $800K/yr and improved inventory turns by 14%. ? Oversaw effort for legacy system data and process mapping supportive of SAP ERP Global Implementation, integrated user testing, data verification, and problem resolution. Coordinated programmer tasks for extract / load, maintenance programs - through production implementation. * Established standardized Production Change Control policy/procedures for corporate legacy systems. Facilitated team-based design/development/implementation of a centralized change control mechanism. Satisfied internal/external audit requirements to implement secure control points related to changes impacting production systems change management. * Developed /Implemented/Administered: * Strategy to migrate/archive master data from IBM Mainframe. Provided leadership to acquire from multi-national legal entities, data retention requirements to satisfy legal/critical business requirements. Realized cost avoidance of $400K/yr for discontinued mainframe maintenance. * Computerized meta-data management methodology: Designed / transformed data models into graphical formats and Oracle database designs / definitions. Adopted as Best Practices. Established a Data Administration framework to more effectively manage corporate-wide computer system data. * Centralized Data Dictionary repository and reporting subsystem. Optimized utilization/dissemination of corporate data in support of business systems strategies; collapsed user training time frames; provided decision support/impact analysis functionality. * Knowledge Management base of company business processes’ relationships upon computer systems data/data structures. System user productivity increase of 07%.
