Daily Duties at Enterprise Rent A Car:

I was responsible for the P&L over the East Midlands of England. I managed a team of seven senior managers, responsible for 200 employees and a business worth more than $200 million. Under my leadership we were recognized by the owners as one of the best run operations two years running. After my initial examining of the operations I found the opportunity to reduce cost through efficiency. I streamlined the management structure through the same techniques as before – simply holding the employees accountable for the responsibility. As the weaker employees left we did not replace them with new employees. Once again I notice an immediate boost of employee morale and employee productivity improved. After 12-months of ensuring our CSI was strong, our employees were happy, best practices were being executed in all seven departments and our financials were solid; I launched another campaign to aggressively open 8 strategic branches within 2 years. This time I did it through hiring, training and developing a manager to do the necessary pre-work. I also taught them how to negotiate and manage the project. In order to support this massive expansion I created alliances and build relationships with the top officials of the 7 major universities within the East Midlands. I gave lectures on Entrepreneurship and Business Strategies to both Graduate and under Graduate students. I was instrumental and actively participated in the UK’s first Entrepreneurship at the University of Sheffield. I was asked to serve on the boards of the Business School for the University of Sheffield, Derby and Lincoln and assisting them with improving the teaching within their schools. The Student In Free Enterprise (SIFE) of Sheffield asked me to also be on their board in assisting them with opening small business. My involvement within these organizations had enormous impact on the ease of our recruitment. The University of Sheffield never sent a candidate to us until my involvement and now we hire more than 10 students per year from this school.
