Daily Duties at Api Automotive Professionals Inc.:
Legal Administrator: Appointed to this position after successfully advancing through all positions within the Claims Department. Used developed skills in contract interpretation of Automotive Warrant/Service Contracts sold by API, its associated agents/agencies. This position was created to resolve coverage complaints prior to litigation, complaint resolution through negotiation via written response to complaints filed through various government agencies, client attorneys and/or BBB complaints. Responsible for handling all complaints, when required, personally consulted with corporate legal team/attorney prior to litigation or if additional legal action was required to resolve conflicts. After 1998 most contracts contained a clause where in the event coverage complaints could not be settled between the parties or threatened litigation the contracts binding arbitration process would be implemented to resolve differences. All such cases were adjudicated via the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Process included answering all inquiries included participation in actual hearings. This process demanded strong analytical skills, preparation for actual hearings, the arbitrator selection process and preparation of all documents required for hearing. As the Claims Manager I had the same responsibility as above but as move coverage changes were made and the arbitration clause added I need to company required more focus on the legal aspect of contract coverage and complaints. Claims Manager: Responsible for managing 30 person call center - Inbound/out-bound - Including hiring, training, retention and continual review process of individual .employees managed included all supervisory personnel, customer service operators, mechanical claims adjusters and underwriting staff as required. Primary contact for all electronic and written correspondence from Federal, State, and private consumer agencies, as well as private attorneys and contract holders. Developed quality control call system allowing for monitoring and tracking call center volume and proper distribution of calls. Integral part of team making change over to computerized systems for claim adjudication. Direct contact with all selling agents for coverage and training on products and assisted in new product development.
