Daily Duties at Massachusetts Department Of Public Health:

Performed various microscopic, cultural, immunological, and serologic testing for the recognition of gonorrhea, chlamydia, chancroid, and syphilis. Identification of gonorrhea/chancroid by conventional gram stain-FA/ cultural/biochemical methods. Identification of chlamydia by Ligase Chain Reaction assays, Chlamydiazyme (ELISA) and Microtrak methods. Identification of syphilis by RPR and TP-PA confirmation methods. Performed antibiotic susceptibility tests (Kirby Bauer & MIC’s). Trained technicians in the testing of gonorrhea, chancroid, and chlamydia. Updated standard operating procedure manuals, developed/assigned proficiency tests for technicians to ensure accuracy of testing, attended various science conferences, performed quality controls on all aspects of the laboratory, and performed research that was published.
