Daily Duties at Mgh (Partners Aids Research Center):

Primary responsibility is managing the laboratory of 3 post-docs and 6 laboratory technicians toward the aid of developing effective vaccines against HIV-1 and HCV. Duties include overall laboratory maintenance, monitoring the laboratory budget, performing PCR assays and gel electrophoresis, sending out purified DNA samples for sequencing then analyzing the results, sending out and receiving plasma, PBMC, and peptide samples from various parts of the world with collaborating laboratories (using portable liquid nitrogen mailers), sending out samples for HLA typing, coordinating sales representative visits, maintaining radiation safety manual and ensuring everyone is certified, ordering supplies and instruments, and participating in laboratory meetings.
