Daily Duties at Texas Instruments / Raytheon:

Employed by Texas Instruments/Raytheon Incorporated as a Master Machinist / Model Maker and a member of The Cutting Edge Self Directed Work Team. Duties include fabrication of complex parts and castings from blue prints, sketches, and verbal instructions for various prototype defense systems. As a machinist I always strive to build the highest quality, lowest cost parts possible. I try to be innovative on my fixtures and programs, constantly benchmarking the process with others to achieve continuous improvement. I have also assisted others in the troubleshooting of programs, set-ups, and machine problems . I regularly interface with engineers, questioning potential problems in a proactive effort to avoid problems and reduce cost. As model maker I focus on quick turn, low cost solutions to the problems engineers present to me. I also provide quick turn repair or reworking of parts, assembly of tooling, and system assembly. Teaming at TI/Raytheon has replaced supervisors and group leaders since 1993. The team to which I belong has been responsible for people development, scheduling, safety, customer satisfaction, and quality. We regularly work issues pertaining to the daily business of the shop in these areas.
