Daily Duties at Broadpoint Gleacher Securities Group Inc.:
I did daily valuation of the inventory for this investment bank. The daily inventory report is downloaded from the clearing firm “Pershing" I then add columns to the report and feed market values from various third party valuation services like BValve from Bloomberg, and IDC values from Interactive Data Center. I then prepare a variance comparative: comparing Pershing's market value to Gleachers Market value, B Valve and IDC. If there is a significant variance verses Gleachers market value then I speak to the trader and get a copy of the model he used to price his bonds. Gleacher owns; 1) ABS Asset Backed Securities ( bonds backed by real estate, student loans, mortgages, auto loans ) 2) CDO's: Collatorlized Debt Obligations 3) CMO's :Collatorilized Mortgage Obligation 4) Agency bonds : FNMA / FHLMC 5) MBS GNMA Bonds After the market values testing is performed, I then download ABs corporate bond ratings (3 rating services are Moody’s, S&P and Fitch ) and issuance size from Bloomberg and post to the inventory report. We have at any given time an average of $1.5 billion of inventory in the trading accounts.
