Daily Duties at King Abdulaziz National Guard Hospital:

Perform day-to-day duties: receive, process, verify, and report all Microbiological tests including: urine and stool culture, blood culture, CSF, body fluid, food samples, water samples, wound swabs, tissue samples, MRSA screening, environmental culture, virology, serology, gram stain, HVS, Ova and Parasite, Quality Control, antimicrobial tests, Semen analysis and IUI techniques, etc. • Act as the leader of a workgroup within the Microbiology Laboratory and supervises Microbiology Technologists II and Technicians • Participates in the microbiological studies, researches, and experiments • Performs clinical studies to test, evaluate, and screen drugs and pharmaceuticals • Conducts statistical data analysis and uses computer applications to manage data. • Evaluates and validates new methodology • Identifies technical, instrumental, or physiological causes of unexpected results • Performs duties in accordance with JCIA, CAP and National Guard Laboratory standards and Hospital policies and safety standards. • Ensures the materials, reagents and supplies are available and utilized in a cost effective manner, and monitors reagents, equipment function and preventive maintenance and troubleshoot instrument malfunctions • Assists in generating, maintaining and updating Microbiology’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) • Ensures documentation of Microbiology quality improvement activities • Responsible for teaching, training, competency testing and continuing education activities. • Performs the duties of the Safety officer in Microbiology • Prepare Antibiogram quarterly and yearly reports, workload units reports, quality assurance indicators reports, and infection control reports In addition to my responsibilities as Senior Microbiology Technologist, I perform the duties of the Continuing Education Coordinated; CME coordinator for the whole Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine; arrange the training of the students and Saudi Career Development Planning staff; coordinate and organize CME lectures, seminars and presentations; coordinate the internal education in all the laboratory sections
