Daily Duties at Office Max:

My expertise was in helping the customer with various electronic items. I explained differences between the various laptops, desk top computers, laser and ink jet printers, software programs, types of paper that worked best with each type of printer, and different types of telephones. I helped out in the copy center as a backup for lunches, breaks, and when there was no one available to help customers. I was responsible for setting up planograms that showed where all items were to be located, as well as making sure that all new items were put on display for hands on features that customers could see how they worked. I answered questions on rebate issues that customers were having eith the rebate company, as well as contacting the company directly to speak on behalf of the customer. I answered questions to the best of my ability concerning questions that customers weree having with their computers, and what was needed to fix them, directing them to the right way to have them fixed, or where they could take them to get them fixed. I also worked on orders for customers when they would come into the store wanting to make a large purchase, such as setting up an office. I would listen to the customer, and make suggestions as to what the best types of equipment would be for the customer.

What they like about Office Max:

You highly value a work environment built on a formal structure, rules, and regulations. You do not enjoy the unpredictability of shifting priorities and deadlines that upset your routine. You require and enjoy direction, input and accountability as part of your work environment. You have a strong need to participate in making key decisions and feel left out if your superiors or co-workers do not seek your input when making decisions. You thrive on providing good customer service to both internal or external customers, and doing so makes you feel good.
