Daily Duties at Wal Mart:

My current responsibilities include moving freight to the floor, stocking the freight, unloading trucks. I work as an unloader, a garden center cashier, have been a Customer Service manager, sales associate, and in all I have been a team player trying to help out where I am needed. As a customer Service Manager, I was responsible for the the pulling of tills at night, setting them up in the morning, making sure that returns were handled in an orderly fashion, customers were treated with respect, while at the same time, answering their questions and doing the returns within company policy guidelines. I was also responsible for attendence of cashiers, making sure that breaks and lunches were adhered to, as well as keeping the scorecard within acceptable boundaries. Another part of my job was to make sure that all registers had enough cash in them at all times to satisfy the needs of the cahiers on those registers. I also had to ok payroll checks at the service desk, and do audits on registers making sure that they were in compliance with the stated corporate policy. I also trained cashiers on the use of the registers. As a garden center cashier/sales associate, I was responsible for maintaining a good zone in the evening. I also trained others in the area on the use of the registers, as well as taught on how to make keys and do fishing and hunting licenses in the sporting goods department. I also cut fabric and mixed paint to help out in those departments when their was no one available.

What they like about Wal Mart:

A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
