Newsweek, Inc., New York, N.Y. 1987 – 2010 Manager Editorial Systems, Director Editorial Systems, Director Emerging Technologies, Director Publishing Technology • Proactively consulted and collaborated with internal clients on their needs and how to provide innovative technology solutions that improved productivity, simplified processes and reduced costs, • Effectively managed IT staff by ensuring quality service is provided and assigned projects to fully utilize their time, • Identified, researched and procured best of breed tools to improve systems and processes, • Identified system deficiencies and lead strategic efforts to resolve them, • Lead technical teams through analysis, design, development and testing of technical solutions, • Member of six person task force created to reengineer production workflow, • Project Managed implementation of new technology that streamlined Newsweek’s print and web workflows, • Lead the Sarbanes-Oxley Team to ensure controls to achieve compliance of IT systems are identified, documented and performed at the required intervals, • Project Manager for the Operations and Technology tasks associated with the divesture of subsidiary Budget Travel Inc., • Member of a high-level four-person Reengineering Task Force created to study operations and determine efficiencies that can be gained from the correct application of new Information Technology., • Project Leader of multi-million-dollar initiative to convert proprietary legacy systems to Open Systems. The project generated millions of dollars in savings and introduced numerous efficiency improvements and tighter production schedules., • Recipient of Newsweek’s Employee of the Year Award for contribution to the company’s Relocation of Headquarters project.
