Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosage or radio-pharmaceuticals received, used, and disposed, following physician's prescription. Detect & map radiopharmaceuticals in patients' bodies, produce photographic or computer images. Explain test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provide them with assistance during test procedures. Produce a computer-generated or film image for interpretation by a physician. Process cardiac function studies, using computer. Dispose of radioactive materials and store radio-pharmaceuticals, following radiation safety procedures. Record and process results of procedures. Prepare stock radiopharmaceuticals, adhering to ALARA. Maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment. Gather patients' medical history to assist physician. Measure glandular activity, and radioactivity of patient, using scanners, Geiger counters, scintillometers, and other laboratory equipment. Positioning and monitoring of patient. Develop imaging protocols & procedures . Administer radio-pharmaceuticals or radiation intravenously to detect or treat diseases, using radioisotope equipment, under direction of a physician. Perform quality control on laboratory equipment, gamma cameras, and radiation detection equipment.
