Daily Duties at Southern Nevada Health District:

• Planned, prioritized, assigned, supervised, and reviewed the work of staff responsible for providing accounting and financial services including vendor relations and inventory control within the District. • Planned, directed, coordinated, and reviewed the financial reporting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and the payroll reporting functions; directed the related reporting requirements and monitored compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; assisted Human Resources with payroll-related issues as needed. • Responsible for all functions of the billing department; monitored billings and collections including billings to various state and federal agencies for grant revenues and various Medicare and Medicaid billings for claims for patients seen at various clinics operated by the District; • Collaborated with Nursing Division, Information Technology team, and billing department to implement system enhancements in the WebIZ medical billing system to minimize errors on claim submissions in order to maximize billing revenue. • Prepared various reports on operations and activities. • Recommended and assisted in the implementation of goals and objectives; establish schedules and methods for providing timely and accurate services; implement policies and procedures; exceeded established department productivity goals through development and implementation of best practices to increase employee output and enhance financial services. • Selected, trained, motivated, and evaluated accounting personnel; provided or coordinated staff training; worked with employees to correct deficiencies; • Coordinated and conducted district-wide training on financial software, budgeting, purchasing, payables, etc. • Continuously monitored and evaluated the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; assessed and monitored work load, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identified opportunities for improvement and review with the Director of Administrative Services; implemented procedures. • Coordinated the district-wide annual budgeting process and also responsible for the consolidation and balancing of the district-wide budget; presented the annual budget to the Board of Health for approval. • Planned, directed, coordinated, and reviewed the work plan for the Financial Services Department; met with staff to identify and resolve problems; assigned work activities; monitored work flow; reviewed and evaluated work products, methods, and procedures. • Managed and administered the District’s annual budget; forecasted funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; directed the monitoring of and approval of expenditures; directed and implemented adjustments as necessary. • Reviewed financial calculations and projections of accounting staff; supervised audits; assisted with the development of project proposals, grant applications, and contracts. • Responsible for leading, coordinating, and implementing financial software packages. • Collaborated with key members of the finance team, senior management team, and information technology to design and implement a new budgeting software tool to improve the efficiency of the budgeting process. • Reviewed, approved, and negotiated contracts to ensure compliance with District policies. • Provided fiscal monitoring of grant budgets and made recommendations to program manager on grant spending. • Coordinated annual financial audit preparation with external audit team and prepared annual Comprehensive Annual Financial Report to be approved by the District Board of Health. • Attended Audit Committee meetings with District Board of Health members. • Supervised purchasing agent and worked with staff to implement procurement policies. • Performed other related duties and responsibilities as required by the Director of Administration. • Worked with Director of Administration and Senior Management on business plan development and strategic planning
