Branch Controller for Six Branches 2000 to 2010 Managed Northeast Region with annual sales in excess of $100 million of a national publicly traded insurance agency. Prepared monthly closing reports, including balance sheet, Profit & Lost statements with variance analysis, regional flash reports, branch revenue analysis, balance sheet account analysis, payroll reconciliations, niche reports, usually events, new business and lost business reports, inter-company allocations and journal entries as well as bonus accruals. Responsible for bank reconciliations and On-Line banking. Manage the coordination and preparation of the annual budget for six branches with revenue in excess of $50 million. Budget process includes creating, reporting and analysis of revenue, compensation and expenditure budgets. Provide monthly profit & lost explanation of budget vs. actual variances to senior management. Provide ad hoc reports concerning budgets to branch managers. Review vendor payables vs. budget. Quarterly & Year End Packages for Corporate Office & Dominant Priorities Report. Led Sarbanes-Oxley compliance initiative for Northeast Region. This entailed documenting and testing all processes within the accounting department. Ensured timely and accurate completion of the SOX certification processes applicable to the Northeast Region employing Axentis Compliance System which included the monitoring of 16 SOX Key Controls. Ensured compliance with corporate financial policies. Responsible for Due Diligence of Acquisitions and Integration of acquired Agencies. Created an Integration Manual for the Northeast Region. Converted several accounting software systems on three platforms to one agency system (AMS) on one platform. Mapped Northeast Agency System to Corporate JD Edwards General Ledger System. Maintained effective working relationship with Regional Manager, Branch Managers and Corporate Staff. Managed two accountants. HR recruited, selected, trained and reviewe staff Provided finacial metrics( headcount, sales per headcount, EBIT % Adhoc reports as requested by managerment Maintaing fixed assets ledgers, goodwill and deferred rent schedules.
