Daily Duties at Pacific Advanced Civil Engineering:
➢ Managed design and construction of concrete, launching stone, and soil cement structural composite bank protection (an emerging technology); produced cost estimates, attained county / city approvals and transfer drainage permit, developed construction plans and As-builts, managed construction, and offered corrective action. Teamed with second party Engineers and Geologists from other companies. Interdisciplinary collaboration and customer focus resulted in repeat business. ➢ Performed river engineering and floodplain management; compiled site topography, manning’s coefficients, and As-built records. Collected field data to cut cross-sections and run hydraulic models. Developed alignment for project bank protection. Created proposed condition models to compare and adjust floodplain limits for adjacent projects without affecting flow hydraulics beyond project limits. ➢ Implemented flood control / stormwater management BMPs; mitigated effects of floods by grading and adding structural bank protection. Installed turf reinforcement mats to mitigate scour and river velocity. ➢ Developed bridge and culvert design, sizing, and scour analysis; leveraged hydraulic models to provide optimized volume of flow at bridge and culvert cross-sections. Performed scour and sensitivity to determine bridge and culvert dimensions / supports / design details. ➢ Executed sediment transport / erosion analysis; re-evaluated and updated previous sedimentation studies by thoroughly modeling aspects of degradation / aggradation, and accounting for general, local, bend, long-term, and historic scouring. ➢ Developed watershed / jurisdictional delineation; contributed to million dollar delineation and modeling project of entire San Juan Creek Watershed. Ensured projects’ compliance within ACOE or CDFG jurisdictional authority limits. Used hydraulic modeling of riverbeds to update FEMA floodplain lines. ➢ Reported directly to Company President.
