Receives reports of sudden, suspicious, or unusual deaths from hospitals, police, physicians, and other sources; triage referral calls and make initial medical suitability decisions for all brain-injured or cardiovascular death notifications; check DMV records for identification purposes and donor designation. Perform secondary screenings; consult with higher level coordinators as to the eligibility of the donor; screen eligible cases with tissue processors and local eye banks; verbally report eligible cases to the administrator on call. Contact and review case with ME and coroner as to the nature of the case and autopsy schedule; locate NOK information and funeral arrangements of the donor; dispatch tissue and organ team to perform recovery. Obtain recipient follow up information: Able to use the GLDP Extranet to upload recipient follow up information from local transplant centers, call transplant centers and verbally obtain recipient follow up information that is pertinent information to compose a family letter. Exercise proper documentation techniques; assemble donor charts; use computer for data entry and report generation.
