Daily Duties at Newark Charter School:
• Oversaw the school’s Director and ensured all activities were in compliance with state and federal regulations. Worked with government agencies and legislators to craft and implement school-friendly laws. Acquired $15 million in Standard & Poors rated tax exempt bonds with the tightest spread of any charter school bond issued to that point to build a second 73,000 square foot elementary school and refinance original bank debt. • $3 million surplus accumulated as a result of effective and prudent financial management as Board Chairman. • Led the school to a Top 6 ranking among Core Knowledge Schools in the nation by the Core Knowledge Foundation. • Created a detailed business plan, leading to the successful acquisition of a $250,000 revolving line of credit with zero assets. • Negotiated and closed a deal to purchase 26 acres of land for cash in the amount of approximately $1.7 million.
