Daily Duties at Metropolitan Transit Authority:
This position required the use of Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP) and Government Audit Standards (Yellow Book) to perform operational audits, pre-award contractor audits, and financial audits. GAAP concepts were used to meet audit objectives such as: how much programs cost and how were they financed? What outputs and outcomes were achieved? What and where are the important assets, and how effectively are they managed? What liabilities arose from operating the programs, and how will they be liquidated or provided for? Also, this position required knowledge of FAR 31.2 and Department of Transportation Regulations 49 CFR, Part 40. Lead audit team of five to perform annual physical inventory of bus parts and equipment.
What they like about Metropolitan Transit Authority:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
