Daily Duties at State Of Wyoming Retirement System:

Provide independent assurance to the Board of Directors and management regarding the safeguarding of the organization's assets. Ensure operating efficiencies are evaluated and in compliance with proscribed laws, Board rules and regulations, and management policies. Perform annual audit risk assessments of the organization and prepare annual audit plan based on the risks determined. Direct the overall performance of audit procedures including identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing and analyzing evidence, and documenting WRS procedures and processes. Prepare final audit reports for the WRS Audit Committee and management. Provide consulting services to WRS management and staff by conducting research to answer questions brought from management and the Board on IRS regulations, conformance with prescribed laws, rules and regulations. Research and report on efficiencies, internal controls, and recommend opportunities for improvement. Create and update Internal Audit Procedure Manual. Ensure the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) meets standards to receive the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
