Performed laboratory synthesis of long chain peptides under Dr. R.G. Denkewalter and Dr. Fred Holly in the group that made a major breakthrough in organic chemistry and world wide front page news by performing the first laboratory synthesis of an enzyme. The work was ongoing when I left Merck in 1967 to move to Florida, and documentation of the ribonuclease enzyme synthesis was published in the January 1969 issue of the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS).
