Daily Duties at United Airlines:
Regional Safety Manager – Los Angeles (11/01 – 05/10) Served as Liaison/Consultant for the West/Hawaiian/Mexico/Central America Regions providing surveillance and support of 33 airports and 3 field offices specific to UA operations: • Taught OSHA 10 hour and 30 hour training curriculum to leadership personnel within the airline. • Promoted senior leadership in establishing accountability for safety performance within region in support of all safety initiatives. Considered primary contact on all OSHA related issues and contacts. Conducted site location safety assessments resulting in station compliance to OSHA regulation • Facilitated development of Safety Business Plan and assisted managers in the definition of their safety roles and responsibilities. • Inspected safety and security systems, conduced investigations, performed root cause analysis on aircraft damages and employee injuries. Participated in accident review board investigations, and certified new procedures, processes and facilities. • Wrote and taught principles of Event Reporting System and Behavior Based / People Based Safety to Managers, Supervisors and Safety Representatives within the airline. • Wrote and updated corporate safety regulations for United Airlines operations to meet federal OSHA requirements. • During my tenure with United reduced number of ground safety violations by 25 percent and reduced the number of incidents by one third as a direct result of my training program.
