Daily Duties at Covidien:
* Core team member for multiple new product launches. * Schedule department training for newly effective General Spec (GS) documents and train new employees on all documents. Expanded the training, with the approval of management, to department personnel that in the past were not included in training. * Revised the wording on the departmental GS document to include the procedures of the e1 system and new policy on storage of archived purchase orders. The GS documents are regulated by the FDA and proper training and storage of said materials is audited. Therefore, accurate account of the training and storage is vital to the business. * Logistics point person for the Magellan/Pacific transition, assigned to monitor the flow of product before the switch over and monitored backorders and the movement of product to address the needs of the customer. Daily reports were generated and distributed to several departments. This enabled the company to better service the customer and allocate product in a timely fashion with minimal delay to the customer. * Identified shortcomings in the monitoring of outside vended raw material changes. Initiated discussions with Global Sourcing to derive a plan and matrix to handle these changes. The procedure was approved by Logistics, Sourcing and Quality Assurance management the process was rolled out to the Logistics department. The ability to monitor the process ultimately provides the customer with accurate information as to what is the current disposition of the changing product. It also indicates which department is taking ownership for each step as there could be overlap in responsibilities. * Team member for script validation testing for the purchase order (PO) functions in e1. A validated system is vital to a company and the regulations established by The Sarbanes-Oxley Act. * Maintain sales forecasts for multiple market sections by working with Marketing to determine the best strategy going forward. The forecasts are vital to the manufacturing plants and for the purchasing of out side vended product. A faulty forecast could result in too much or too little product causing inventory issues. * Review the fill rate and Back-order (BO) for the plants and outside vended assignments. Understanding the fill rates and the BO allows for a better flow of information between departments and ultimately better services the company. * Create, maintain and monitor PO’s for outside vended products handling a variety of different sized vendors. Responsible for high profile vendors such as LHI and Precision Interconnect while retaining the high volume vendor, Anodyne. This assisted in the continuity of relationships with each vendor as projects matured. * Logistics representative for managing DART feedback and bringing to the table not only the issue but possible solutions as well as identifying differences in terminology between departments which were adding to the confusion. The DART system is an accounts payable system that struggled at the beginning of implementation. The core team to deal with these issues was vital to the flow of business. My persistence with identifying and address issues was paramount in moving forward and reducing the number is future issues.
What they like about Covidien:
A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
