Daily Duties at Johns Hopkins Hospital Health System :
Designed computer networks, using TCPIP, Ethernet, token ring, and fiber optics. Installing TCP/IP protocols, Thick/Thin Ethernet, RS-232, 3 COM Terminal Servers, Bridges, Cisco router, Multiplexors, and CHIPCOM Hubs. Troubleshooting was provided with on call support (24hours/7 days a week). Maintained data and voice communications system campus wide. Some of the remote sites that I provided on-call services were Green spring Station, Francis Scott Key Medical, satellite offices in Baltimore County/City. Performed Unix programming for data communication equipment, such as 3 COM Bridges, Terminal Servers, Cisco Routers, and ISDN equipment, Fujitsu Terminal Adapter/ Voice Data Sets, equipment to accommodate a variety of interfaces to the network. Provided hand-on training to Junior Network technicians on installation of network policy and procedures. Assigned workload to network technicians. Ordered parts from vendors for network maintenance for service upgrades to servers, hubs, and routers. Documented changes to network, for installation of daily and future network equipment using Excel and Lotus notes, with a Windows95 workstation. Serviced customers for problems and solutions of network connections, for IBM, COMPAQ, DELL HP, computers. Installed HP and IBM printers, CHIPCOM, Cabletron hubs, Cisco router, Cat 5, UTP, FDDI, Ethernet, Coax, and Token Ring. I provided technical support of Novell and Microsoft operating system for PCs, printers and from vendors. This was tracked with Lotus Notes and Excel spreadsheets using a Windows 95 workstation. Worked in the Network Control Center, using HP Openview to monitor hubs, routers, terminal servers, etc. Troubleshot network problems using a sniffer, protocol analyzers, line monitor, etc.
