Daily Duties at University Of California Davis:
ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION: Manage all financial and budgetary affairs with full delegated authority; including intramural and extramural funds, recharge funds, and private gifts for a total unit budget of $9.8M. Responsible for internal controls and risk management; fiscal close activities; Fiscal Information System Account Manager; analyze budget trends and expenditures on contracts and grants; administer financial affairs of unit; and develop proposal budgets; equipment manager of almost $900,000 in laboratory and office equipment. . PROGRAM MANAGER: Oversee recruitment, retention, education and outreach goals of the program; direct development of activities to attract excellent graduate students from diverse backgrounds, focusing on students from under-represented ethnic and socio-economic groups; responsible for development of graduate students’ professional skills and contacts and in developing peer mentoring. RESEARCH SUPPORT MANAGEMENT: Coordinate proposal submission with collaborative, interdisciplinary faculty, responsible for adherence to proposal guidelines; liaison with Sponsored Programs Office; negotiate terms and conditions with funding source; submit requests for modification of budgets. MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISION: Establish, implement, and interpret campus policies and procedures for internal operations; maintain current knowledge of union contracts; recruits, hires, disciplines, counsels and evaluates staff employees; establish unit goals and objectives; take affirmative action to promote diversity awareness.
