Daily Duties at Us Army Tacom Ardec:

Provide guidance in the preparation and processing of specifications and standards as well as participating in numerous Army and Interservice IPTs. This position required knowledge and execution of multiple core competencies, such as quality engineering, software quality engineering, technical data, reliability, system safety and standardization. During my tenure within the Standardization Office, my duties touched virtually every project or program at ARDEC. I was personally responsible for fielding all standardization questions having to do with quality control/assurance, engineering data systems, human factors engineering, information standards and technology, information processing standards, mission critical computer resources, maintainability, reliability, non-destructive Testing, system safety and general design requirements. Examples of special projects and leadership roles are (1) Coordination of NATO Standardization Agreements and Armerica Britian Canada Austrailia (ABCA) efforts with Advanced Systems Concept Office (ASCO) and Quality Engineering Directorate (QED), respectively. (2) Administrator of the ARDEC Master Action Plan and Military Specification (MILSPEC) Reform Initiative. Main functions were constant coordination with ARDEC labs and QED regarding the preparation of performance specifications, training, and funding, up to the level of Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Procurement); and resolving numerous customer issues at all levels. (3) Team leader of a DOD IPT responsible for the re-engineering of the DOD standardization function. (4) Team leader of the Army's IPT responsible for the elimination of unnecessary and costly requirements in military specifications and standards. (5) Chairman of a DOD/NASA IPT for the development of Internet-based software guidance for the preparation of performance specifications. (6) Represented the Army on the DOD IPT for developing new DOD Standardization Program policies and procedures (DoD 4120.24-M). (7) Past chairman of two non-Government standards working groups mainly consisting of commercial/industrial suppliers within the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for the development of national standards as well as a participating member of seven others.
