Daily Duties at The Walt Disney Studios – Image Movers Digital:
Functions as a software and systems engineer for the development of backend software and systems integration of high-performance server enclosures (300+ nodes). Assists in the development, testing and debugging of software to streamline production workflows. Main duties include: • Developing of production tools in C++, python, and maxscript to optimize specific aspects of production. Applications include an image proxy system for 3ds Max that allows users create, manage, and assign lower resolution texture bitmaps to increase scene efficiency and user interaction, and development of submission modules in Python to increase resource optimization for the render processing of 3D photorealistic images. • Developing of multi-process systems provisioning tools employing network programming in Python to manage remote processes and provide daily operations monitoring of production servers. • Providing analysis and advise to improve the scalability and stability of backend resources based on production workflows and end-user systems interactions to the IT department and Production Engineering. This includes network performance analysis, network storage components, and systems configuration. • Developing of dynamic Web-based application interfaces employing Python, Javascript, DHTML, XML, and Adobe Flex to provide access to production services and systems monitoring.
