A national healthcare company providing a variety of healthcare benefit plans to over 10 million lives. • Developed annual strategic & financial plans for 2001 and 2002 to match each market’s resource requirements, including staffing and CAPEX levels, with its target book of business. Determined financial outlook for the full year at the end of each month. Communicated monthly results to senior management. RAJIV RANJAN Page Two • Identified performance drivers & performed special projects to meet expense challenges for my region: (1) Established accounting controls, and enabled & enforced new technologies: implemented Virtual Private Network to reduce telephone expenses by 42%. Benchmarked Cisco Systems to conduct a pilot project of Oracle’s e-Travel system to potentially reduce travel expenses by 20% to 25%. (2) Conducted productivity analyses: Developed metrics to identify the most effective market in the region for each basic process. Resulted in staffing reduction of 11% from the peak level and 17% below plan. (3) Identified process improvements: In concert with Marketing and Operations, introduced the use of intranet & established controls to reduce the waste in printing & distributing provider directories. Potential expense reduction of $2 per member per annum. • Achieved better than planned expenses at year-end despite being worse than plan at mid-year.
