Daily Duties at Freelance:

As a CAD Artist for TJX: Scan, clean, recolor, and resize purchased artwork which was then put into repeat and made into more than one colorway; for Childrens market. Then add all necessary information for it to be passed onto the designer and then to the factory; including size of repeat, pantone color info, style number, name of design and designer. Reduction of print to be ‘painted’ into mini bodies. The CAD renderings, in Illustrator, of ‘mini bodies’ for presentations. Knock offs of artwork to be made into ‘original’ artwork with the same look and feel. Shopping market (locally and internationally) for look and trends. Use of both Photoshop/Illustrator CS4 on Mac As a Designer/CAD Artist/Patternmaker/Seamstress for "Hell on Heels": Consulting for development of a new Contemporary jean company. Design of bodies, embellishments and style details. CAD renderings of the details in both Photoshop and Illustrator. First patternmaking, sewing the prototypes, working with factories and owner of jean company. Researching the market for styles and fabrications. As a Designer/Dressmaker/CAD Artist/Seamstress for private customers: Wedding – Bride, bridesmaid and flower girls dresses and gowns, Men’s suits and dinner jackets, infant apparel, corseted garments, Costume gowns and formals, Coats, skirts, slacks, jeans. Sewing – dressmaking and items for the home. Digitizing and design of embroideries. Keynote presentations. CAD work for real estate fliers. As a CAD Artist/Designer for David Dart/Vintage Blue: (On-site freelance work through agency.) Missy (David Dart) Junior (Vintage Blue) apparel Scan, clean, recolor, and resize purchased artwork (for fabric prints) which was then put into repeat and made into more than one colorway. Then add all necessary information for it to be passed onto the designer and then to the factory; including size of repeat, pantone color info, style number, name of design and designer. Purchased and original artwork to be used for fabric prints, embroideries, and screen prints. Reduction of prints to be ‘painted’ into mini bodies. The CAD renderings, in Illustrator, of ‘mini bodies’ for presentations. Knock offs of artwork to be made into ‘original’ artwork with the same look and feel. Storyboards, line sheets, post card design and design of other promotional materials to be sent to clients. Photography of in-house model and prototype garments. Design of prints, screens, embroideries and some garments. Shopping market for look and trends. Use of ‘U4ia’, ‘Primavision’ and Photoshop CAD programs on PC Communication with factories, designers, pattern makers (to size artwork appropriately) and fabric vendors as well as mechanics for printers, scanners and Fiery backup, paper vendors and CAD system repair. As an Instructor for the Art Institute of California (Hollywood Campus) Instruction of ‘U4ia’ CAD program (for one semester) As a Designer for the Greaten Corp.: Toddler and Kids (Boys and Girls) Private Label apparel sets. Design and illustration primarily on computer. Selected color stories, CAD renderings of bodies, screen prints and embroideries. Design sheets. As a Designer for Susan Wakeen Doll Co.: Designed doll outfits for Baby dolls and Missy dolls Selected fabrics, drafted first patterns, CAD drawings of initial designs, sewed first prototypes. As a Graphic Designer for Lawman jeans: Designed logos and other artwork for designers. (short project) As a Designer/Graphic artist at Prestige for Men: Designed some mens sweaters/ and mini bodies for catalog as well as the catalog itself to be distributed to buyers. (short project) As a Designer for Karman (aka Roper Apparel): Missy and Junior tops for the Western apparel market. Designed and illustrated (by hand) Selected fabrics, oversaw fit sessions, made first patterns, worked with CAD artist for embroideries, outsourced trimmings, oversaw photoshoots. Design & trim sheets, pattern cards and verbiage for photo cards. Approval of model and photos for cards. And as a Designer for Wonderland Fashions for girls: Designed Girls (4-6x and 7-14), Inf & toddler dresses. Selected fabrics, made first patterns, sewed prototype garments, filled in design and trim sheets, outsourced trimmings, worked with President of company for direction of line.
