Daily Duties at Barnes Jewish Hospital:
Provided staff relief for pre-op holding.. Prepared surgical room by setting up sterile equipment, instruments, and sterile solutions. I prepared patient by draping them with sterile sheets, cleaning and disinfecting incision site. Assisted surgeons by gowing & gloving them. Passed and retieved instruments as needed. As a good surgical technician I knew enough about the surgical procedure that I was able to anticipate their need and have insruments ready in hand. Finally restocked the surgical room preparing it with new sterile items while also checking equipment making sure they functioned properly for the next case.
