Daily Duties at Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital (Niach):

150 employee, 40-bed startup LTAC hospital providing acute care, critical care and rehabilitation services for patients recovering from serious illnesses and/or injuries. Reported to CEO. Developed strategic staffing plan to begin operations of start-up LTAC hospital on-time by passing all Idaho State and Joint Commission credentialing HR surveys (passed without Recommendations for Improvement or deficiencies). Orchestrated HR strategy and led HR operations upon opening of hospital. Oversaw all HR functions including: benefit and salary administration, training and new employee orientation, employee development, recruitment and retention, policies and procedures, employment law and legal compliance, reporting, and financial management. Participated as member of Senior Leadership Team, Admissions Team, Quality Council, Performance Improvement, Safety/Risk, Employee Activities, and Disaster Preparedness Committees. Personally interviewed 600+ individuals over a four-month span to fill ~100 positions for hospital start-up and operations. Consistently held turnover rate below the objective of 10%.  Succeeded in receiving zero deficiencies in state and Joint Commission initial credentialing survey in the HR department by training managers for HR requirements. This policy ensured compliance within their own departments.  Achieved zero contract labor needs to open hospital and to run continuing operations and solely interviewing and filling about 100 positions. Eliminated the need to accrue outside recruiting expenses.  Reduced turnover by 5% during first month of developing realistic job preview, which was initially implemented to increase candidate flow. Also conducted ‘in-service interviews’ which promoted a culture of excellence.  Met and exceeded operational goals set in ProForma and met or exceeded budget goals every month to become the company’s leading hospital and benchmark hospital for start-up operations. In addition, developed new hire orientation that became the model for other facilities when starting up.
